The course is written for operators carrying out work for the first time in radiation controlled areas on sites where radioactive materials or radiation generators are present. It can also be used as a refresher course for workers returning to site.

The Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 states the following:

Every employer shall ensure that those of his employees who are engaged in work with ionising radiation are given appropriate training in the field of radiation protection and receive such information and instruction as is suitable and sufficient for them…

The BRP course is available in three versions:

  1. A half-day bare-bones course for personnel entering radiation controlled areas (RCAs) owned by an employer but where those personnel are not carrying out work with ionising radiations themselves;
  2. A one-day course for the employees and contractors of an employer who is engaged in work with ionising radiations and whose employees and contractors carry out such work with ionising radiations;
  3. A one-day course for the employees and contractors of an employer who is engaged in work with X-ray generators and whose employees and contractors carry out such work with X-ray generators;

The course is modular and therefore specific plant / site information on the one day course can be included on request. Note that version 2 of the course implies that the employer will also be required to Appoint an RPS to supervise such works. Please Contact Us to help you decide which version of the course is suitable for you.

There is a short test at the end of the session. Every delegate receives course hand-outs and an attendance certificate.
